Draft night is special for any sport, being able to see young, talented individuals have their hard work pay off. The draft is also a big night for teams in the league. Teams that are trying to rebuild their franchise. Some who may need a couple of young core players to help the team. Whatever it may be, teams are just as stressed as the players being the pick because they want to pick the right one. Here are the teams that I think won and lost this year's draft.
New Orleans Pelicans- Won. With the trade of Anthony Davis to the Lakers, the Pelicans got a lot of young talent from this trade. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart. What they also got were draft picks. Most of all of the Lakers draft pick, which was a huge gain. In the draft, the Pelicans had the #1 overall pick in which they selected Zion Williamson. Then with the 8th pick, they selected Jaxson Hayes a center from Texas.
Atlanta Hawks- Won. The Atlanta Hawks who are in the process of rebuilding as well as looking at making a dominant young core. With the selection of Cam Reddish, the Hawks are adding really good, young talent to their squad. With recent trades, the Hawks have acquired Evan Turner and Allen Crabbe, two really good three-point shooters. Seems to me the team is trying to become more of a threat from three.
Boston Celtics-Won. With Kyrie and Al Horford leaving the Celtics, they really need wing players and big men. The Celtics drafted Romeo Langford, Guard from Indiana. Romeo was the focal point of the Indiana team this past year. He can be a threat from the perimeter and also an explosive force driving in the paint. He may have big shoes to fill with the absence of Kyrie, but nonetheless will be a great scorer in the NBA.
Memphis Grizzlies- Won. With the selection of Ja Morant, an explosive point guard who is also a leader on the court, it seems as though Memphis has gotten what it seems like in a franchise player whom they will build around. Only time will tell in the coming months.
Chicago Bulls- Won. With Zach Lavien running the two guard position, the Bulls were in need of scoring a point guard to run with Lavien. With the selection of Coby White, the Bulls are heading in the right direction with this pick. White is a scoring point guard. One who can score from the perimeter or drive in and get a bucket. Coby White and Zach Lavien are going to be a nasty backcourt duo.
New York Knicks- Won. After trading Kristaps, the Knicks were in need of a scorer. The selection of RJ Barrett was a great move by the Knicks. RJ isn't the answer to the Knicks issues but is a step forward into a great future.
