fash·ion

a popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior.

Of course, the word “fashion” means something different to everyone BUT here are a few influential people who have had a great impact on the fashion industry.

Naomi Sims

Naomi was the first African American model to appear on the cover of several major fashion magazines. Naomi Sims was known for her vintage and elegant style as well as the many unique hairstyles she would wear.

Virgil Abloh

Virgil Abloh is the creator of Off-White streetwear. Abloh has changed the fashion industry because he simply designs clothing and shoes like no other. His works can be described as trendy, unique, and iconic. He has an exhibit in the High Museum of Art located in Atlanta, GA. His exhibit is titled “ Figures of Speech” and will be displayed until March 8, 2020. Virgil has successfully bridged streetwear and high fashion. 📷

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi’s fashion sense can be easily described as colorful, classy, and reserved. Yara is an actress in the show Grown-ish. Former First Lady Michelle Obama approves of Yara’a fashion sense and even wrote her a letter of recommendation for college. Yara is a great fashion icon for this generation.

Luka Sabbat

Luka Sabbat’s style is not something that you see often, but that’s what I love about it the most. He is so carefree and fashionable at the same time. He also is an actor on the show Grown-ish. Luka’s style has no limits. From long shirts, dressing in layers, and color block clothing to corduroy pants.

Zendaya

Zendaya’s style is always bold and never boring! Some would say her looks are over the top, but I’d say killer and memorable. Zendaya has an array of hairstyles. For a while, she was known for her suits but she’s definitely been serving looks and giving us a switch up lately.
